These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern the use of the website www.plateadvisor.co.uk ("Website") and the services provided by Plate Advisor Ltd ("Plate Advisor", "We", "Our", "Us"), Company No. 16037389, registered in England and Wales. Registered Office address: 49 Station Road, Polegate, England, BN26 6EA.

By accessing or using our Website and services, you ("Customer", "User") agree to be legally bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with these Terms, you must not use our Website.

1.1 Overview

Plate Advisor Ltd operates an online private number plate marketplace that connects vehicle registration owners with prospective buyers across the United Kingdom.

Our Website provides the following services:

PlateSeller - A submission and valuation tool allowing vehicle registration owners to enter their registration number and personal details to receive an estimated valuation and automatically list their plate for marketplace exposure to potential buyers.

PlateChecker - A branded version of the PlateSeller service used for print marketing and other marketing methods used by Plate Advisor.

PlateFinder - A smart search facility enabling prospective buyers to locate privately owned vehicle registration numbers using keywords, number patterns, initials, phrases or partial matches to identify suitable matches.

ContactTrack - A secure, credit-based messaging system allowing registered users to notify, message, and negotiate directly with plate owners through a private chat interface hosted within the Website.

Plate Advisor acts solely as a marketplace platform facilitating introductions and communication between Users. We do not guarantee successful sales, purchase outcomes, valuation accuracy, or transfer approval by the DVLA for Vehicle Registration Numbers.

1.2 Definitions

For the purposes of these Terms:

"Plate Advisor","We","Our","Us" refers to Plate Advisor Ltd, the owner and operator of www.plateadvisor.co.uk

"Website" means www.plateadvisor.co.uk and all associated services, software, pages, features, and digital infrastructure operated under the Plate Advisor brand.

"Vehicle Registration Number" / "Number Plate" / "Registration" means a UK DVLA-recognised vehicle registration mark capable of transfer, retention, or sale subject to applicable regulations.

"PlateSeller","PlateChecker" A service that allows Users to submit vehicle registration numbers for valuation and/or listing on the Website marketplace.

"PlateFinder" A service that allows Users to search and browse listed vehicle registration numbers using the Website’s search functionality.

"ContactTrack" A service which allows Users to use secure internal messaging system that enables communication between registered Users through a paid credit system.

"Estimated Valuation" means an automated indicative price estimate generated using internal algorithms, historic sale data, and marketplace comparison indicators.

"Full Valuation" means a paid, more detailed valuation service providing specific pricing analysis with an exact price figure based on internal algorithms, historic sale data, and marketplace comparison indicators.

"Credits" means prepaid digital units purchased by Users to initiate and maintain communication via the ContactTrack service.

"User" means any individual or entity accessing, browsing, registering with, or using any service on the Website.

2.1 Plate Advisor provides a digital marketplace platform that:

Enables registration owners to obtain valuations - Users may submit their registration number and relevant details to receive an automated estimated valuation and optionally purchase a more detailed Full Valuation.

Automatically lists submitted registrations for marketplace visibility - Upon submission via PlateSeller, the registration is automatically published to the Website marketplace database and made searchable to prospective buyers.

Allows buyers to search available registrations - Through PlateFinder, Users can browse and filter listed plates using intelligent search criteria designed to produce relevant and ranked results based on the User's search query.

Facilitates secure communication between Users - ContactTrack allows registered Users to notify, message, and negotiate with plate owners within a monitored, credit-based internal messaging system.

2.2 Plate Advisor does not:

Guarantee sale prices or transaction completion.

Act as a legal broker unless separately agreed in writing.

Verify ownership of the Vehicle Registration Numbers submitted.

Guarantee valuation accuracy or market stability.

Guarantee successful DVLA transfer of any Vehicle Registration Number.

By submitting a Vehicle Registration Number through the PlateSeller service:

3.1 Valuations

a) Free Valuation (Estimated Current Market Price Range)

The user confirms that they have the rights to the registration number submitted, either by:

• Owns the vehicle/has permission of the vehicle owner to which the Vehicle Registration Number is assigned.

or

• Is the named nominee/has permission from the nominee on the V778 Retention Certificate or V750 Certificate of Entitlement for the Vehicle Registration Number.

One submitted we will check the Vehicle Registration Number against our database and pricing algorithms to determine an estimated price range.

Users may receive a free Estimated Valuation in the form of a price range, generated using automated systems and comparative marketplace data.

Estimated Valuations are indicative only and do not represent binding offers, contractual purchase commitments, or guaranteed achievable sale prices.

Market conditions, buyer demand, and timing and our internal data sources may significantly affect actual sale values at any given time.

b) Paid Valuation (Specific Current Market Price)

The fee covers a more detailed exact price analysis based on broader market comparisons and registration desirability factors from our own internal data sources.

Full Valuations remain opinion-based assessments at the time issued and do not constitute financial advice.

Payment of a valuation fee does not guarantee buyer interest or sale completion.

Payment of a valuation fee may give the Registration Number priority placement in some areas of the search results for Users who are searching via our PlateFinder service. This is subject to the type of plate and/or features present on our website at any given time, such as similar plates and features plates.

3.2 Automatic Listing

The Registration will automatically be listed on the Plate Advisor marketplace.

Listing occurs automatically upon submission of the registration details and approval by our internal system. This process will also involve further checks to confirm the validity of the Registration Number submitted and the contact information provided by the User.

Listing on the marketplace occurs whether or not the User proceeds with purchasing a Full Valuation.

Submission by the User constitutes consent for public display of the Vehicle Registration Number on the Website.

This automatic listing is fundamental to the marketplace model and forms part of the free Estimated Valuation service offering.

If a User does not wish their Registration to remain listed with our PlateSeller service, they must login to our website using the email address used during the submission process and request removal of the Vehicle Registration Number.

3.3 User Responsibilities

The User confirms that:

They are the lawful owner of the Registration OR have full legal authority to list and negotiate sale of the Registration on behalf of the vehicle owner or retention certificate owner.

All information submitted, including contact details and ownership status, is accurate and truthful.

The Registration complies with DVLA transfer requirements at the time of listing, including but not limited to:

• Vehicles holding the registration must be taxed/SORN and have a valid MOT.

• Retention certificates (V778) must be valid and not expired.

Plate Advisor accepts no liability for disputes concerning ownership, entitlement, misrepresentation, or regulatory non-compliance.

If a User provides incorrect or invalid information regarding a Registration Number and contact details, Plate Advisor reserves the right to remove such listing and or data from its website at any time.

PlateFinder allows Users to search listed Vehicle Registration Numbers using:

Keywords - Users may search using words, initials, names, or phrases that match the structure or appearance of a desired registration.

Letters and number combinations - Searches can be conducted using partial or full combinations of letters and numbers to locate visually similar plates.

Pattern recognition queries - The system attempts to match common name abbreviations, phonetic similarities, and typical UK plate formats.

Search results are generated algorithmically based on relevance and matching criteria. We do not guarantee completeness, ranking priority, or the suitability of any search result.

Vehicle Registration Numbers listed on our PlateFinder service are not owned or able to be purchased directly from Plate Advisor Ltd, we only facilitate contact between buyer and seller via our anonymous ContactTrack Service.

5.1 Registration Requirement

To contact a PlateSeller:

Users must create an account providing accurate identification and contact details.

Users must verify their email address to activate messaging privileges.

Users must purchase Credits prior to initiating communication.

5.2 Credit-Based Messaging

Initiating contact with a PlateSeller requires the use of Credits purchased in advance.

Credits are digital, non-transferable, and non-refundable once used.

Credit pricing is displayed clearly on the Website and may be amended at our discretion.

Plate Advisor provides only the communication platform and does not participate in negotiations or payment handling between Users.

5.3 Conduct Rules

Users agree not to:

• Harass, threaten, or abuse other Users through messaging.

• Circumvent the ContactTrack system to avoid purchasing Credits.

• Use automated software, scraping tools, or bots to harvest data.

• Submit misleading, fraudulent, or deceptive listings.

We reserve the right to suspend or permanently terminate accounts for misuse.

6.1 Conduct Rules

Valuation fees are payable prior to provision of Full Valuation services.

Credits must be purchased before ContactTrack messaging access is granted.

All prices are displayed in GBP (£) inclusive of VAT (if applicable).

Payment processing is handled by secure third-party providers, we do not process or store sensitive payment card information directly, for more information see our privacy policy.

6.2 Refunds & Cancellations

Unless required by law, digital services including valuations and Credits are non-refundable once delivered or accessed, unless the refund request is prior to use of the credits and is within 14 days of the purchase date.

6.3 Valuation Refunds

If you have submitted a Vehicle Registration Number for valuation and wish to claim a refund based on one of the following circumstances:

• You are not satisfied with the full valuation price and do not want the Vehicle Registration Number to be listed on our website.

• If a technical error has occurred during the valuation process and incorrect pricing and/or statistical data in relation to the submitted registration was provided by our system.

• The refund request is made within 14 days of the payment date.

If these conditions are met, then the Vehicle Registration Number listing will be removed from our website, and a full refund will be provided to the original payment card within 5-7 working days.

6.4 Credit Refunds

If you have purchased credits and wish to claim a refund based on one of the following circumstances:

• If the credits are unused and the refund is requested prior to purchased credits being used to unlock and/or notify third party plate owners/dealers.

• If Plate Advisor identifies a Vehicle Registration Number listing which a User has attempted to notify/contact to be false/misleading or spam content submitted to us.

• The refund request is made within 14 days of the payment date.

If these conditions are met a full refund will be provided to the original payment card within 5-7 working days.

7.1 New Listings

By submitting a Vehicle Registration Number, Users grant Plate Advisor:

• A non-exclusive, UK licence to display, promote, and market the Registration on the Website.

• Permission to format or edit listing presentation for consistency and visibility.

• The right to use anonymised listing data for marketing and statistical analysis.

• We reserve the right to remove, suspend, or amend listings at our discretion.

7.2 Listing Disputes

If a User claims a Vehicle Registration Number is on our website in error and was not submitted by them, it could be due to one of the following reasons:

• The User raising the dispute has submitted the Vehicle Registration Number in error previously.

• A User has submitted the Vehicle Registration Number under false declrarations that they were the owner or has permission from the owner.

• A previous owner of the Vehicle assigned the Vehicle Registration Number may have listed it in the past.

7.3 Listing Removals & Conditions

In any of the above cases we will only remove the listing in question if one of the following conditions are met:

• Due to our own independent review the information provided is deemed to be incorrect, fake or spam content provided at the time of the original listing.

• The User making the dispute is able to confirm ownership of the registration, by providing a scan/photograph of the V5C (Log Book) of the Vehicle for which the Vehicle Registration Number is assigned and the User's name.

• The User making the dispute is able to confirm ownership of the registration, by providing a scan/photograph of the V778/V750 (Retention Certificate) showing the Vehicle Registration Number and the User as the nominee.

Plate Advisor acts solely as an intermediary platform.

We are not responsible for:

• Negotiations or agreements between Users.

• Payment disputes between buyer and seller or any Vehicle Registration Number.

• DVLA transfer rejections or delays.

• Fraud, misrepresentation, or breach by other Users.

• Our liability is limited to the amount paid for the specific service giving rise to the claim.

We process personal data in accordance with UK GDPR and our Privacy Policy.

By using the Website, you consent to:

• Collection and processing of submitted contact details.

• Public display of submitted Vehicle Registration Number(s).

• Secure processing of payment information via third-party providers.

All Website content, branding, logos, algorithms, software, and materials are owned by or licensed to Plate Advisor Ltd.

Unauthorised reproduction, copying, scraping, redistribution, or reverse engineering is strictly prohibited.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate User accounts, block IP addresses, remove listings, or refuse service at our sole discretion without prior notice.

We may amend these Terms at any time. Updated versions will be published on the Website with a revised effective date. Last updated 14/06/2026. Continued use of the Website constitutes acceptance of amended Terms.

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales, any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
